15 trends in 2015.

I love the beginning of the year, not only because everything feels fresh, energetic and new but I love being able to make predictions. Especially when it comes to fashion, trends and runway shows. I’ve always found it interesting to see what grows in popularity and what falls to the sides.

Last year, I posted about 14 trends of 2014 and I found myself a fan of almost everything especially Matching Sets and Novelty Handbags. Mom’s Jean never became as big as anyone predicted, but I did see a few chicks around festival season rocking the ill fitted denim. Either way, I love looking back and I love looking forward when it comes to trends. I also love even more when the past becomes the present and I find myself wearing my 90s favorites or something from the 60s.

For 2015, I find myself exploring new lengths — fitted suits in bold prints, all white ensembles, large floral prints, preppy uniforms and overly embellished pieces. As my style evolves over the years, I always try to stay true to clean silhouettes, well fitted pieces and classic cuts, while keeping up with the latest. Anyhow, here’s a breakdown of my 15 trends for 2015:

monochrome fashion - black and white
1. Monochrome. I don’t think there will ever be a better pairing than Black & White. They contrast yet compliment one another in such a beautiful way. I especially love the shades in between and how Marc Jacobs classically blends the two tones in floor length gowns.

sheer fabrics in fashion
2. Sheer Fabrics. There will always be something sexy, delicate and enticing about sheer pieces. I love body conscious clothing underneath or even a simple slip. I wouldn’t be bold enough to wear underwear (unless it was a swimsuit and in the right setting – beach, pool, cruise ship, etc.) Anyhow, I love love love the idea of sheer overlays and mixing fabrics.

utility fashion
3. Utility. Maybe it’s the tom boy in me, but I feel like this utility style is ALWAYS in. At least in my world. I’m constantly throwing on boy-ish inspired outerwear. So, of course I’m all for this trend with khaki and army green tones gracing large pocketed military style dresses.

valentino stripe pieces
4. Interesting Stripes. Whether they’re bold, thick, diagonal or zig zag. Stripes are no longer just vertical or horizontal. This year, I feel like we’ll be seeing stripes in a new, fun way. I personally love the multiple colors and cute patterns.

denim dresses and suit
5. Denim. Now, when I say “denim”, I’m not speaking about jeans! This year I feel like denim dresses, rompers, suits will be a bigger hit in fashion than sleek jeans! I love the sturdy fabric and the versatility of it. Plus, it’s nice to see denim worn above the waist, for once.

head to toe white fashion
6. All White. I love the crisp freshness of wearing all white. I feel like head to toe white will always look glamorous, rich and clean!

beautiful shirt dress from Marc Jacobs
7. Textured Shirt Dresses. I always loved the simplicity of T-Shirt Dresses…especially the collars and now I love them even more with a bit of texture! These dresses are perfect to wear out to brunch or shopping! There’s such an effortlessness to it!

gingham dresses and matching sets
8. Gingham. It’s no longer just for picnic blankets. The cute, dainty print is making it’s way into fashion with beautiful draped dresses and layered skirts! I’d love to see the colored gingham at spring and summer festivals.

Large Floral Prints
9. Large Florals. Flowers will always be in for Spring, just like plaid will always be in for Fall. But this year the pretty print is coming back larger than ever with huge flowers and much bigger photos of them. Plus, I think it would be great to see embellished detailed flowers!

Structured Fashion Week Pieces
10. Structure. I’ve always been one for structured pieces liked cinched waists and strongly defined silhouettes. I get lost in baggy, ill fitted clothing and structured pieces are always so organized and interesting on the eyes. I always feel like a doll in a well structured dress.

11. Crochet Lace. There’s nothing more feminine than pretty crochet laced pieces! This year, I feel like the laced pieces will be a hit amongst cover ups or over two pieces at the beach and music festivals!

printed womens suits
12. Printed Suits. I know it’s a bit wackly, bold and out there but I can’t help but love the unique twist on boring suits. Having a marketing job during the week, I love spicing up my work wear! I’ve been known to wear houndstooth, grid and palm tree printed suits in the past. This year, I may even get crazier!

Yellow DVF Maxi Dresses
13. Yellow. When I think of Yellow, I think of my cousin who claimed it as her favorite color since we were kids. She’s bright and light hearted just like the yellow tone. I’d love to see more shades of yellow become popular in fashion…everything from mustard to canary yellow! It’s such a daring, bold and different color!

preppy uniforms
14. Preppy Uniforms. I may be the only one that’s all for this trend because I loved my private school uniforms growing up. Plus, I feel like it’s so sophisticated yet fun and absolutely sexy!

embellished pieces
15. Embellishment. There’s such an elegance and art to beautifully embellished pieces. Although, I’m always completely paranoid while wearing them, in fear of it snagging or getting caught on something. These embellished pieces are absolutely beautiful and so detailed. I hope to see more throughout 2015.

Let’s see which trends stick this year! I’m going to try to incorporate most of them in my wardrobe especially the preppy uniforms, all white outfits and strong silhouettes! What are your favorite 2015 trends?
