music monday.

There are very few bands that I have loved for over a decade; Conor Oberst (& his other projects) is easily one of my favorites. I think the most appealing thing about him and his music, is that he doesn’t act like he’s some big time performer or tries to make a huge production out of things. He just plays music. It’s very honest and rare, especially in a world filled with Lady Gaga’s and famous DJs. It seems like everyone is trying to be the next big thing. Not him. & that’s what I love.

Here’s one of my favorite songs, “Common Knowledge” off of his newest album “Upside Down Mountain”, which I highly recommend. :)

veronica beard s/s 2015.
Honestly, I had never heard of Veronica Beard until this past NY Fashion Week and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to be acquainted with the brand. Every piece aligns perfectly with my personal style, that I selfishly feel like the collection was made for me. I love the pops of colors, bold stripes and textures, button details and of course, the overall fit and structure. Oh and don’t get me started on the quality and fabric. It’s all just elegant and at the same time very modern and cool. I can see myself wearing this every Spring and even during the Fall with an overcoat.

denim days.

denim days.
Lately, this has been my “go to”/lazy day/comfortable/casual look and I’ve been wearing it once a week (maybe even twice). I can’t get enough of simple denim shirts with perfectly fitting jeans. Sometimes I’ll even wear it tucked into a simple black skirt, when I feel like being a bit more feminine. For the most part, I’ve never been a fan of jeans or pants and I’m not sure what’s come over me, but this will probably be one of my favorite outfits this Fall. Complete with a leather jacket from Black Swan!

camel tones.

It looks like Fall is going to be a great start for wearing muted tones like Olive Greens and Oxblood Red. I love pairing these tones with leather accessories including unique, oversized satchels, booties and fun watches. One of my favorite neutral colors is Camel because it’s much more refreshing, lively and vivid than the typical dark brown or the too bright white. The camel color really accentuates the overall look whether you’re wearing Black, Charcoal, Burgundy or Olive! I pulled together some of my favorite camel leather accessories below! Oh…and one thing about accessories, they always need to match with the same tone. It really brings the outfit together and ties it all in!

I know that twin sets, two pieces and co-ords (whatever you want to call them!) were a HUGE trend this year, so I’m loving these interesting cut dresses, that give the illusion of looking like two pieces with the crop top overlay. This pretty embellished piece is by the masters at TopShop and is only $110! It’s perfect for any occasion this Fall season and so easy to style with the right accessories!

varsity florals.

varsity florals.
I’m still making the most of my florals during this transition of seasons. One of my favorite outerwear trends is the varsity jacket. I’ve been wearing this one over pretty little dresses and sets. I think it counters the dainty vibe and makes me seem a lot more tough than I really am. Either way, it’s perfect for Fall and I’ve been having fun experimenting with the different looks.

summer forever.

summer forever.
It’s always sad when Summer is over, but I guess living in California it never really is. At least not for long. We’ll get a couple of months of gloomy days and maybe some random rainy moments thrown in…but never for a substantial time. I guess that’s why I love living here..You can just go to the beach or a garden or on a hike, and the weather will permit it. I took that all for granted for such a long time. It wasn’t until I visited Minnesota and Indiana and Chicago and Missouri…though beautiful, it makes me miss home and having Summer forever.
